Automated UV Lifetime Test System

Designed as a fully enclosed accelerated lifetime testing platform, this system was developed to characterize the long-term performance of multiple samples under continuous high-intensity optical exposure. The platform combines precision motion control, thermal management, and environmental containment into a compact automated test station capable of operating unattended for extended periods.

At the heart of the system is a water-cooled aluminum thermal mass designed to maintain stable temperature across dozens of test samples while they are continuously exposed to a high-energy light source. Custom dual-axis Cartesian motion systems positioned above and below the sample tray automatically acquire measurement data throughout the test cycle, enabling repeatable characterization without operator intervention.

Because the system operates with high-intensity UV illumination, significant engineering effort was devoted to safety and environmental control. The enclosure prevents hazardous light leakage while a high-capacity forced-air cooling system continuously removes heat generated by the optical source and electronics. Careful airflow management, thermal design, and enclosure construction ensure reliable operation during test cycles that may run continuously for weeks.

By integrating precision automation, robust thermal control, and operator safety into a single platform, this system provides a repeatable and efficient solution for long-duration reliability testing while minimizing manual intervention and maximizing data consistency.
